The Coffee The Mission Ordering
01 The Coffee
What makes Addisuna coffee specialty-grade?
Specialty grade means the beans scored 80 or higher on the SCA Q scale, judged across ten attributes including aroma, acidity, body, balance, and sweetness. Only the top 5 to 10 percent of beans worldwide reach this level. Ours are sourced from Ethiopia and evaluated before every batch goes out.
Where is the coffee sourced from?
Single-origin Ethiopia. We source from Ethiopian farms already certified Fair Trade and USDA Organic. Ethiopia is where coffee was born, and the distinct flavor profile (natural sweetness, citrus, floral tones) comes directly from the region's soil and altitude.
How is it roasted?
In micro-batches at Quad Coffee Lab in South Bend, Indiana. Small batches mean tighter quality control and peak freshness. We roast to order so you're not getting coffee that has been sitting in a warehouse.
What are the tasting notes?
Expect natural sweetness, citrus brightness, and floral tones. Ethiopian coffee has a distinctive cup profile that comes through cleanly in a single-origin roast. If you've only had blended coffee before, this will taste noticeably different.
How should I store my coffee?
Store in a cool, dry place. Best enjoyed within 30 days of opening.
02 The Mission
How does the 10% donation work?
Ten percent of the revenue from every bag sold goes directly to the Woliso Library project in Woliso, Ethiopia. The donation is built into the price. You don't need to do anything extra.
What is the Woliso Library project?
The Woliso Library in Woliso, Ethiopia is being transformed from a dilapidated building into a modern learning center with structural repairs, security gates, furniture, and computers. Our goal is $68,000, which expands capacity from 30 to 300 students. Learn more about the project.
Is Addisuna a nonprofit?
Addisuna Coffee Co. is the for-profit side of the mission. Coffee sales fund the work. The Addisuna Youth Foundation is a separate registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 41-4410739) that accepts direct tax-deductible donations. Learn about the Foundation.
Can I donate directly without buying coffee?
Yes. The Addisuna Youth Foundation accepts direct donations through our giving portal. Every dollar goes to the mission. Contribute here.
